Can You Help in Colorado

Can You Deploy to Colorado with PAR?

Are you interested in deploying to Colorado?

Serve 6:8, a faith-based group in the Fort Collins, Colorado, area is asking for our help. We met their representatives at disaster relief meetings hosted by Church of the Highlands last winter.

The threat is real. This past week, a flash flood in the area caused a mudslide, destroying a homesite and killing four in the home with no warning. Others were killed days ago in Poudre Canyon flooding after water rushed down Cameron Peak fire’s burn scar.

We need your feedback if you are available to go.

HERE ARE THE DETAILS.

  • WHAT?

To cut dead, fire-damaged trees (8-10″ diameter), strategically dropping them in areas above homes. Also to make and spread mulch near homes, mitigating the risk of deadly mudslides destroying homes and causing injuries/fatalities

  • WHERE?

In the Fort Collins, Colorado area at high elevations (up to 8,000 feet). Sleeping quarters, food, and shower facilities will be provided at local churches

  • WHEN?

Work will begin Monday, August 30, and end on or around Friday, September 13. Please let us know which days you are available (staying the full 2 weeks is not required).

  • WHO?

Skilled cutters are the biggest need, but there may be room on the team for a limited number of other volunteers to pull limbs, spread mulch, etc. Those with health limitations should not go on this trip.

  • HOW?

Volunteers may have to provide their own transportation; indicate if you are able. Flights from Nashville are inexpensive. Host churches will pick up volunteers at both Denver and Fort Collins airports.

We will take at least one PAR truck to pull a disaster trailer. Due to the long drive (~24 hours), taking another truck will depend on volunteer feedback.

If we send a team, we’ll partner with teams from Church of the Highlands and God’s Pit Crew.

Send your replies and questions ASAP to Ronald Jennings.

Thanks,
PAR Disaster Response Team
